Our Story
We are a Christian Community born in Calgary in October 2015, with the objective to worship God, to live guided by the Holy Spirit and find Holiness in His word.
Currently we have 16 members, who signed a six month agreement to pray daily (individually and as a family), to study weekly the Word of God and spiritual reading, to attend the weekly community gatherings; to engage in service to others. We also agreed to believe in the name of Jesus (John 3:23), to keep the commandments of God (John 3:22), to have faith that we are anointed by the Holy Spirit (John 2:19), to live out the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and to love one another (John 3:11).
Commitment, only has meaning if Jesus Christ is Lord and each individual experiences the love of God. When we commit to each other, we live in peaceful dwellings, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.
Total commitment to God means that Jesus is or sole authority, or guiding light, and our unerring compass. Being committed to Christ means being fruitful; it means being a servant. Our axiom is simple and succinct: “For me to live is Christ” (Philippians 1:21)
Community Living
To grow in Community we are modeling the LOVE ONE ANOTHER Community here in Calgary on the ALLELUIA Community in Augusta, Ga. USA. We are being mentored by a Full Covenant member of Alleluia Community that has over 350 Full Covenant members.
Here is part of its history:
In the early 1970’s, God poured out His Holy Spirit on a particular group of people in Augusta, Ga., USA, and began the work of revival and unity which still exists today.
These 4 men: A Catholic priest Fr. Mike Burke, and founders Dr. Kevin Murrell, Dale Clark and Bill Beatty went on retreat to seek the Lord for guidance. Within 30 minutes the Lord told them clearly that the group was to be ecumenical. The remainder of the retreat focused on forming a covenant community, which occurred in 1973 with 12 adults. Although the original 12 adults were all Catholic, the Lord immediately began adding Protestants to their numbers. The community bought a common property that same year and moved into a low income, impoverished neighbourhood. At the same time, they put all their money and possessions in common. And like the scripture in Acts 2 says, “And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Though Alleluia Community members don’t live in total sharing of goods anymore, we do strive to live a simple life style and most of us still live in and around Faith Village.
